One of the things that Liz Ayling handed me during our talk was a pile of cards. It turned out to be a form of promoting a person, passion, places and blog.

Promoting oneself, place and regional tradition

One of the first questions I ask in a new city or country is: what traditional dish do you have here? What traditional food places do you know? It results quite often that one doesn’t know what to tell, confused.

Then, after the meeting, when everyone goes home, it happens that I get a message: “You know what, I thought about it, I looked for something and I found some interesting places and meals.” Well then, they exist, although they’re apparently lost, covered with dust or modified. Most frequently they’re related to the history and culture of the region.

Postcards

Liz Ayling – food blogger, photographer, journalist from Malta – thought that she would promote her blog, country, its flavours and both photographic and culinary activity by, among others, the postcards.

That’s apparently simple, but I hadn’t seen anyone to come up with this before.

What’s on a postcard?

Every postcard shows a photo of a place on Malta (actually it’s Valletta and its vicinity) taken by Liz. They’re the places she likes and visits.

On the other side of the postcard we can read a few words about the place and a recipe related to it. For example, on a postcard dedicated to a local bakery we can find a focaccia recipe.

And below the recipe there is some information about Liz.

I showed the postcards to the bloggers in Cracow where I was eating sandwiches and banana pie on a bloggers’ breakfast, an hour after the landing. They were delighted with the idea.

Think, maybe it’s worth doing something like that to promote your city, yourself?

They don’t have to be culinary-related places, they may be connected to yourself, your passion and country.

I’d love to give away some postcards of this kind abroad.
